Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)
EPD: Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a comprehensive, internationally harmonized report created by a product manufacturer that documents the ways in which a product, throughout its lifecycle, affects the environment. UL certifies that all information in a manufacturer's finished EPD is accurate.
EPDs also contribute to the MR credit — Building Product Disclosure and Optimization – Material Ingredients portion of a LEED V4 Project. The MR credit is stringent, you can achieve a maximum of 2 points under this category using EPDs.
Regarding EPDs there are 2 ways to get 1 point each, an example of one is to: “Use at least 20 different permanently installed products sourced from at least five different manufacturers that meet one of the disclosure criteria below. (10 different permanently installed products from three different manufacturers for CS and Warehouses & Distribution Centers)”
