NESTLED IN Northwest Oklahoma City, The Ellison Hotel embodies the essence of this remarkable state with 120 well-appointed rooms, offering an authentic Oklahoman experience rooted in the region’s history of resilience and innovation. Serving as a comfortable base for exploring Oklahoma City’s diverse culinary, artistic, and cultural offerings, this boutique hotel seamlessly integrates into the city’s vibrant neighborhoods. Named after celebrated novelist Ralph Ellison, it pays tribute to Oklahoma’s creative spirit and tenacity.

Each Tribute Portfolio Hotel aims to capture its local spirit and tell its story through the property. In crafting The Ellison’s unique identity, Amy Saenger Dehnert of KNA Design placed emphasis on bringing Oklahoma’s heritage to life through a curated and accessible approach. Extensive research and exploration informed the design, resulting in a forward-thinking aesthetic that aligns with the rapid development of this vibrant market.

In hospitality, Dehnert notes there are both aesthetic and performance aspects that make tile desirable. Emser Tile Building Blocks™ Wood | Yakedo™ was used throughout the lobby, replicating the trending look of burnt wood in a glazed porcelain plank tile — and aligning with KNA’s narrative of atypical innovation. The blue subway tile used in the common area is a special order item called Country Blue. Emser Tile was also used in public and guest bathrooms. Building Blocks™ Wood | Oak – Sand and a porcelain Carrara Chevron mosaic were used for the vanity walls and shower surrounds and a coordinating 2”x2” was used in the shower pans.
