TILE SOLUTIONS FOR MEMORABLE GUEST EXPERIENCES

DESIGNATED AS America’s Travel Gateway to the West, St. Louis is known for its confluence of rivers and heralding of rich culture and history. Resting on the shoulder of St. Louis proper, Chesterfield, MO is positioned perfectly for the newly designated AC by Marriott Chesterfield. The motif of this new Chesterfield hotel is a salute to this crossing point, a juncture of east and west, and embraces a travel by air theme, throughout.

Designed by the late Cheryl Beth Hillberry of CBH Design Studio, the AC by Marriott Chesterfield was her last constructed design before her passing. Hillberry loved to create a story through design. A story that people could embrace and love and make their own. Hillberry and her team worked closely with Emser Tile to incorporate the perfect selections of tile creating harmony throughout this new establishment.

As an ode to past and present, near and far, the CBH team selected Network™ White and Sterlina™ Asphalt, two porcelain tile series that celebrate all the inherent benefits of tile, yet beautifully mimic the look of concrete and marble. A timeless appeal with an urban touch. Beyond the aviation theme, the Chesterfield Hotel offers a nod to trans-continental travel with a European jet-set appeal, yet a peacefulness can be felt throughout the property’s aesthetic.

Hillberry truly connected with people authentically which was evident in her overall care and thoughtfulness in the design process. The most important aspect in designing a space for Hillberry was “The Experience”, a practice embraced from her time at Walt Disney Imagineering. Hillberry was the Creator, Principal and Design Director of CBH Design Studio, and during her tenure she touched many lives with her passion for a deepened aesthetic appeal.

Driven by her love of hospitality design, she transformed over 90 hotels into spaces that impact people by their creativity and beauty. Hillberry and her team worked closely with Emser to celebrate the concord appeal of the Chesterfield Hotel. The Emser Team is grateful to have had this collaborative time with such a bright visionary.
