Emser Tile Employee Newsletter - 2021 Q4

Eduardo Berrios
Distribution Center Supervisor

Tell us a little about yourself: I moved with my family to Los Angeles and started working for Emser in 1989 while going to school. Ever since, every day brings a new experience.

Wow! Since 1989? Yes. And when the Houston branch was opening, I asked if I could be part of that, and then I moved here and have been in Houston ever since. I’m proud of our Emser team. In Houston, we still have our first and second hires working in the branch.

So, Los Angeles vs. Houston living… I love LA. I was there for 12 years, living with my family. And I love Houston, too.

What’s your role? Today, I am a Warehouse Supervisor. I work on shipping, oversea receiving and inventory. I travel across the country to meet with DCs (Distribution Centers) when they need help in training people. I love what I do and love to help others.

What accomplishments are you most proud of? Helping people develop their skill sets. I feel good seeing others succeed.

Is that what motivates you? That’s part of it, along with the lessons I learned from my Grandfather, which I always keep in mind. I feel proud of my company and what I do.

What advice would you give others? There are no issues, only opportunities. I have had a number of mentors during my years at Emser. They taught me about taking on responsibilities and treating people how you would want to be treated. That’s played a big role in my life and it’s what keeps me motivated.

What do you like to do away from work? I like fishing with my son – redfish and flounders especially. Or, just staying home at night, relaxing on my patio or my hammock.

Favorite music? Country!

Favorite meal? No matter what I have on my plate, I am thankful for what is there.
