Designing with Color: 2020 Is the Year of Blue

Pantone recently named Classic Blue as color of 2020, following Sherwin-Williams announcement which features their bold shade of navy blue, called Naval.

Why do we love blue so much? It’s the color of two of nature’s greatest gifts – our oceans and our sky. It is often connected with evoking a sense of calm, and in design, a classic appeal. During times of unease, classic blue is a reliable and familiar go-to. Consistently, blue is named favorite color around the world. And, recently reported by Better Homes and Gardens magazine and others, blue is the world’s calmest color, too.

To celebrate the year of blue, we highlight a few of our favorite collections featuring 2020’s hottest hue.

Design is an eclectic collection of unique patterns from a distressed look with a contemporary flair to geometric patterns.

A take on the classic subway tile, Ombre glazed ceramic wall tiles fade from a bright center to a darker, saturated edge.

Volare glass and porcelain mosaic highlights subtle geometric-inspired accents within a small-scale linear design – ideal for backsplashes and indoor accent walls.

A design-forward herringbone mosaic called Edge features frosted glass to illustrate the story of shape and color.

How are you planning to use blue in 2020?
